Sinharaja Rainforest – 7 Waterfalls
Sinharaja Forest Reserve is the most vital rainforest in Sri Lanka. It has been recognized as a treasure presented by the mother nature for Sri Lanka.
It has been declared a World Heritage Site, because of its unique and high biodiversity. Sinharaja is the rainforest that has the highest bio diversity in Sri Lanka and is spreaded in a large area. An immense number of flora in this forest is endemic to Sri Lanka while Sinharaja being the home for many number of endemic birds, mammals, butterflies and dragonflies.
If brilliantly used, both monsoons in Sri Lanka provide with many benefits. It provides a particular regular pattern of rainfall during the South-West monsoons (May-July), and the north-east monsoons (November –January). In February the climate is dry.
The most interesting part about the rainforest is that it comprises of many threatened and endangered species of reptiles, butterflies, mammals and amphibians as well as leopards.
The only method of access to the reserve is by foot with well-knowledged park guides, since they have great knowledge on following paths that would provide you information about the importance of trees.

Time and Duration
Option 1: Rainforest Hike: Depart from your hotel at 5.00 am, return around 4.00 pm if following the Rainforest trail.
Option 2: Waterfall Trail: Depart from your hotel at 5.00 am, return around 6.00 pm if following the Waterfall Trail.
Option 3: Stay one or two nights on the edge of the Siharaja Rainforest and do Endemic Bird Watching also can be arrange. Request for special tailor made tours.
Distance You Go
About 84 km, 2 hour and 45 minute drive from Galle by AC Car. Then walk in the forest, having breakfast, lunch or picnic and come back to Galle.
